PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
The Energy Auditor Certification (BPI) course at Ideal Institute of Technology is a 225-hour training program designed to prepare students to assess energy efficiency in residential and light commercial buildings. This course combines classroom instruction with hands-on experience, giving students the knowledge and skills needed to identify energy waste and recommend improvements that enhance building performance. The course aligns with the Building Performance Institute (BPI) standards and prepares students for BPI certification.
Over the course of 225 hours, students will gain practical skills in:
- Understanding building science principles and energy auditing processes
- Conducting comprehensive home energy assessments
- Identifying areas of energy loss and recommending improvements
- Using diagnostic tools such as blower doors and infrared cameras
- Interpreting energy audit results and preparing detailed reports
- Applying safety practices, including OSHA 30 standards, in residential energy auditing
